WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO THIS WEEK

This hasn’t felt like such a productive week this week but rather just about getting the essentials done. I think everyone prefers it when lots is happening and you feel you’re making lots of progress but I’ve learned to not be so hard in myself when things are a bit slower - these weeks are valid too.

Mum and dad got home from visiting my brother and his family in America and are keen to get going again but I think we’re all feeling a little overwhelmed at the enormity of the task at hand. Getting the Potting Shed Farm Shop and Cafe up and ready to open is our number one priority right now and, like all of the projects we undertake here at Fossoway Stables, it’s proving to be taking much longer and costing a lot more money than we had anticipated. Mum and Dad are jet-lagged and I’m starting to feel the physical strain of all the yard work I’ve been doing so perhaps energy is just a little low right now and a few days to rest are in order.

Rest days are sometimes accompanied with a little guilt for me though, especially when I feel like I’ve not been as productive as I’d have liked, and resting here, at home, where I can see ALL the jobs that still need done, is really difficult to do. That said, that’s exactly what John and I plan to do tomorrow. He has the last concert of a 30 date tour last night at The Queens Hall in Edinburgh tonight so he’s definitely in need of a little R&R and I’ve managed to sort some cover on the yard to allow me a very welcome day off.

My diary for the week ahead looks nice and busy with staff on their well-deserved holidays as well as everything that comes with having the kids off on their easter break. I’ve got some shopping to do with the kids ahead of their School residential camp in a few weeks, some filming to do for Fossoway Stables social media and the Lodge Welcome Pack to update as well as all the usual bits and bobs.

For tonight though, I’m just about to go and pick up my parents (then Phil Cunningham!), go grab something to eat then watch John’s gig.

Have a great weekend all,

K xx

ps - I've taken no photos this week! I will do better, I promise!
